Nyckelpige-tunika - Ladybird tunic

Vi fick så fint besök vid frukosten idag. En liten nyckelpiga kom och hälsade på.

We had such a nice visitor at breakfast this morning. A little ladybird came to see us.

Det här är vad jag lekt med de senaste dagarna. Designat lite. Den största utmaningen var att jag ville använda garn jag redan hade hemma, vilket gjorde möjligheterna något begränsade. Detta garn är ett ganska tjockt akrylgarn.

This is what I have been playing with the last few days. Done some designing. The biggest challenge was that I wanted to use yarn I already had, which narrowed down the possibilities some. This yarn is a pretty thick acrylic.

Själva formen på tunikan är ganska enkel och gick fort att göra. Eftersom jag inte gillar aviga maskor så stickade jag på rundstickor, så prickarna fick jag brodera i efterhand med maskstygn. Så här i efterhand hade det nog varit enklare att sticka fram och tillbaka, och stickat prickarna med intarsia. De två största prickarna är virkade fickor. Nedtill fick jag virka ganska mycket för att inte kanten skulle rulla upp sig. Borde nog ha stickat några varv rätstickning där...

The actual shape of this tunic is rather simple and was quick to make. Since I don't like purling, I knitted it on circular needles and had to embroider the dots with  Kitchener stitch afterwards. I now realize that it would probably have been easier to knit it on straight needles and knit the dots with intarsia. The two largest dots are crocheted pockets. At the bottom I had to do pretty much crochet to make the edge stop curling. Think I should have knitted some rounds of garter stitch there...

Så här gjorde jag:
Stickfastheten var 12 m och 20 varv på 10 cm på 6 mm stickor.
För att få lagom vidd nedtill lade jag upp 108 m (90 cm x 1,2 m/cm). Sedan stickade jag ca 30 cm slätstickning. Sista varvet med rött garn minskade jag på följande vis:
Sticka 5 rm, 2 rm tills, (rm, 2 rm tills) upprepa parentesen totalt 14 gånger, 5 rm. Upprepa alltihopa en gång till.

This is how I made it:
The gauge was 12 stitches and 20 rows on 10 cm with 6 mm needles.
To get it wide enough I cast on 108 stitches (90 cm x 1,2 stitches/cm). Then I knitted about 30 cm stockinette. The last round with red yarn was decreased like this:
K5, k2tog, (k1, k2tog) repeat the brackets a total of 14 times, then k5. Repeat it all once more.

Byt till svart garn och 5,5 mm stickor. Börja med ett varv slätstickning och sedan 5 varv rätstickning. Byt till 6 mm stickor igen och fortsätt med slätstickning. Fortsätt tills den svarta delen mäter totalt ca 9 cm. Maska av de sista 39 m på varvet. Fortsätt med slätstickning på framsidan. Maska av 1 m i början på varje varv ca 7 gånger, och sedan maskar du av 2 m på varje varv 4 gånger. Maska av samtliga maskor.

Change to black yarn and 5,5 mm needles. Start with knitting one round and then 5 rounds of garter stitch. Change back to 6 mm needles and continue knitting. Go on until the black part measures about 9 cm. Bind off the last 39 stitches on the round. Continue the stockinette on the front. Bind off 1 stitch i the beginning of each row about 7 times, then bind off 2 stitches on every row 4 times. Bind off the rest of the stitches.

Runt nedre kanten virkade jag en spets i svart med en virknål på 5 mm.

1 fm i varje m varvet ut. Sm i första m.

Lm, (hoppa över 2 m, 5 st i samma m, hoppa över 2 m, sm) upprepa hela varvet. Sm till första m.

Sm till st överst i bågen, (5 lm, sm i översta st i nästa båge) upprepa hela varvet. Sm till första m.

Virka runt varje maskbåge: fm, 5 st, fm. Sm till första fm. Ta av garnet och fäst tråden.

I crocheted around the bottom edge with black yarn and 5 mm needle. In US terms:

1 sc in every stitch the entire round. Slip stitch to the first stitch.

Ch 1, (skip 2 st, 5 dc in the same st, skip 2 st, sl st) repeat all way around. Sl st to first st.

Sl st to dc on top of the arc, (ch 5, sl to dc on top of next arc) repeat. Sl st to first st in round.

Around every arc you crochet: sc, 5 dc, sc. Sl st to first st. Cut the yarn and sew in the tail.

Sedan virkade jag två varv fm runt rygg och bröst. Till axelband virkade jag 6 hst fram och tillbaka i 25 varv (ungefär 30 cm)  från framstycket och sydde fast dem i bak med ca 8 cm emellan.

Then I crocheted 2 rounds of sc around the back and neck. For shoulder-straps I crocheted 6 hdc back and forth for 25 rows (about 30 cm) from the front part and attached it to the back with 8 cm between the two straps.

Fickorna virkade jag som vanliga cirklar. 8 hst i en magisk cirkel. Sm i första m.
2 hst i varje maska varvet ut, sm i första m.
Lm, (2 hst i samma m, 1 hst i nästa m) varvet ut, sm i första m.
Lm, (2 hst i samma m, hst i de två nästa m) varvet ut, sm i första m.
Lm, (2 hst i samma m, hst i de tre nästa m) varvet ut, sm i första m. Ta av tråden och fäst. Sy fast på framsidan av tunikan som fickor.

The pockets were crocheted like simple circles. 8 hdc in a magic circle. Sl st to first st.
2 hdc in every st throughout the round, sl st in first st.
Ch 1, (2 hdc in the same st, 1 hdc i the next st) repeat, end with sl st in first st.
Ch 1, (2 hdc in same st, hdc in the next 2 st) repeat, end with sl st in first st.
Ch 1, (2 hdc in same st, hdc in the next 3 st) repeat, end with sl st in first st. Cut the yarn. Attach to the front of the tunic as pockets.
